New balm for the young at heart

New balm for the young at heart

With the recent relaxing of marijuana laws in some states, most critics warned it would lead to an increase in usage by young smokers. Well, it actually turns out to be the 55+, yet still young-at-heart who are discovering marijuana lately. Many older adults are finding cannabis products help to alleviate daily pains and sleep issues which traditionally treated with strong prescription opioids.  Many in this demographic are finding an easy shift to a more natural and gentle solution to common aches and pains with medical marijuana.

One such user, Sue Taylor, has turned vocal proponent as featured in a CBS Sunday Morning report. The self-described Weed Lady states; “Seniors don’t want to get high. They want to get well and the cannabis helps.” This is all part of her stay-fit health regimen which includes weight training, green smoothies and weed gummies.

And, she’s not alone in her shift to a more holistic, proactive approach to staying healthy than the once-thought inevitable road of increasing pharmaceutical cocktails that are typically associated with aging. This out of the box thinking is evident in the popularity of cannabis education clubs popping up in many adult communities. Even if it’s not the fountain of youth, many are finding it help them stay more active and feeling vital. As the saying goes, “you’re only as old as you feel” and weed seems to be helping some adults feel a little younger these days.
